looking forward to next year!
... I usually don't catch movies in the theatre, but there are a few things coming out next year that might just have me throwing away $10 at a time to see 'em on the big screen:
6 February 2009 : Coraline
- If you haven't already read the book, do so! Never mind that it's a "kid's book", it's Neil Gaiman, and it's good. It's going to be stop-motion animation, and looks very Tim Burton-esque. Can't wait! :D
8 May 2009 : Star Trek (also referred to as Star Trek XI or Star Trek Zero)
- It's Kirk and the gang in their teens? early twenties? during their academy years. I noticed that Christopher Pike is also a character in the movie (he was the Captain of the Enterprise in the original unaired pilot), I wonder where they are gonna go with that...! The trailer makes me think they are trying to get tweens interested in the franchise, which is a little off-putting, but still, as a latent geek, I think I'll still give it a chance :)
17 July 2009 : Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Consumed the book in one day, one sitting. Not one of my faves, and while I've not been impressed with the movies, I still want to see it on the large screen... :p
One little aside ... two out of the three *should* have been released in Nov/Dec this year, but got moved so that they could be summer blockbuster contenders. What-EVAH! :p
okay, now back to NaNo! :)

can`t wait to watch the Harry potter!
Those are 3 great ones! I also can't wait for Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland!
I caught the new HP trailer before seeing Twilight yesterday and I had to stop myself from squealing and jumping up and down in my seat. It looks like Yates is going to outdo himself and I can't wait!!
Yep, I'd go see all three of those. Or... I'll catch 'em on Netflix more likely.
risingthinker> it's going to be interesting to see how they tackle what was essentially a series of flashbacks via the pensieve cobbled together rather lamely... I'm a fan of the series, but this book was a disappointment to me :p
Bobbi> oh? I haven't heard of that - will certainly keep an eye out for it, thanks!
MyAutismInsights> I was hoping Guillermo del Toro would take up "directorship", because I was totally swept away by Pan's Labyrinth, and I can appreciate the Hellboy movie... but it seems he turned down the opportunity in order to do Hellboy II. Oh well.
Susan> .. actually almost all of my movie watching is done via Netflix - it takes a really outstanding movie to pull me into the overpriced theaters... but some just *have* to be seen on the huge silver screen - something like the Star Trek movie should have mindblowing effects that I anticipate will be lost on my 19" screen :D
