Enemy
Shatter
Vague
= = =
Who is the enemy?
Is it she, is it me,
Or someone else entirely?
A wrong word from her, and
Ugly anger flares within
I bite my tongue
I school my face
But it shows
anyway
I am the ungrateful daughter
The one who doesn't write
The one who doesn't call
The one who doesn't care
She surely tells those who will listen
Is there really a sacred bond between mother and child?
I think ours shattered years ago
I don't even feel guilt
for not writing
for not calling
for not caring
You are just a vague presence across the seas
My heart is cold
My heart is stone
Until you trigger
my anger
all over
again
Or
Until a miracle happens
and we can talk
with walls
down
Yeah,
right.

So sad, but it does happen! Some mother-daughter relationships are so entrenched in misunderstandings that it is hard to make a first move without creating yet another misunderstanding.
Interesting write!
Yes misunderstandings do happen. Mother-daughter, father-son, sibling-sibling. It takes one to step up, break down the walls.
This hit a little too close to home for me. Great use of the prompt.
Very sad situation. It's not easy to fix things in relationships sometimes, but it is usually worth it in the end.
Sadly, it seems this is a fairly common happening. Well-written!
Very well done. I relate to this...
